10 Movie Fan Theories The Creators Completely Rejected
4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
The Theory: One of the most intriguing new aspects of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the introduction of Supreme Leader Snoke, or more specifically, finding out whether or not he harboured a secret identity.
That topic has been one of the biggest online discussions in recent years, and one of the more popular proposals floating around is that Snoke is Darth Plagueis, Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine's former master.
But in Star Wars canon, Plagueis was killed by his apprentice, Sidious - or was he? Fans cited things like the fact that the musical themes for both Snoke and Plagueis are remarkably similar as evidence that Plagueis is still alive and the two characters are one and the same.
The Rejection: Well, if you're going to be rejected, at least be rejected by the guy in charge of keeping Star Wars canon in check, right?
The guy in question is Pablo Hidalgo - Creative Executive over at Lucasfilm - and oh boy, did he bring the sass when fans kept asking him questions about Sidious and Plagueis on Twitter.
If the man in charge of Star Wars canon tells you that Plagueis is dead, then there's no chance in hell that he's actually Supreme Leader Snoke.
On top of this, Snoke actor Andy Serkis has gone on the record and stated that his character is a new addition to the Star Wars universe, putting the majority of "Snoke is X" fan theories to bed.
