10 Movie Flops You've Probably Forgotten

2. Bad Company

You remember Bad Company, don’t you? It’s a Jerry Bruckheimer action comedy about a man who’s recruited to impersonate his late twin brother, who he didn’t realize was a CIA agent. Anthony Hopkins was in it. No? Suit yourself.

Anyway, Chris Rock is the brother in question, but the material is so thin he never gets a chance to steal the show. Nor does he get any good lines, unless asking if CIA stands for “Crackers In my !*$%” is some sort of comic milestone. Hopkins is strangely subdued too, but then his most memorable line is “Get in the car, bitch”, so you can sympathize.

Unusually for a Bruckheimer movie, even the action is boring. There are a few gunfights here and there, a pretty typical car chase, and that’s your lot. The whole groaning mess somehow cost $70 million to make, and it made less than half that at the US box office.

The following summer, Bruckheimer was back on top courtesy of Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, and Bad Company was swept under the carpet.
