10 Movie Franchises With Epic Crossover Events

After so many years of declining talent and progressively worse productions, director M. Night Shyamalan began to turn things around with Split, a seemingly self-contained story featuring James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb. Cut off from the rest of society, Crumb finds himself swapping rapidly between twenty-four different personalities.

The question of what to do with pair of kidnapped teenagers hangs in the balance. As it turned out, Split turned Unbreakable into a movie franchise, one which focused on sinister individuals with differing abilities. Once Split was certified as a critical and commercial success, the director got to work on the third entry.

Glass was a long awaited effort from M. Night Shyamalan which brought together both Unbreakable and Split in a thriller-style throwdown. Bruce Willis, James McAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson all reprised their respective roles as the trio found themselves conversing in the same mental hospital. As the final entry in the trilogy, it aimed to go out with a bang.

While it wasn't met with the most positive reception, Glass stood out as a unique effort that took the crossover down to a smaller scale. It's easily the most unexpected mash-up on the list, but it won't be proceeding any further into a wider franchise.
