10 Movie Franchises With Epic Crossover Events

2. Alien Vs Predator

Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman
20th Century Fox

Our next entry is another familiar one. 1979's Alien and 1987's Predator created two of the most frightening movie monsters in history. While their films varied in quality, there was no denying their overall scare factor.

Unlike other entries on this list, Alien Vs Predator had already established a large following. When Dark Horse Comics paired up the Xenomorph and Predator in their classic line of comics, it turned out to be a match made in heaven. Many popular stories and video games would be released throughout late eighties and early nineties.

When 1990's Predator 2 snuck in a Xenomorph skull into its conclusion, many fans got excited. They would be left waiting fourteen years for the crossover to arrive. Both creatures already had several films under their belt so the groundwork was there and accounted for. The project would be in the hands of Paul W.S. Anderson and The Strauss Brothers.

A film adaptation combining two of the most fearsome sci-fi monsters should have been a dream project. Instead it ended up being massively disappointing. Alien Vs Predator and its sequel, AVP Requium, were panned by both fans and critics alike. Across 2004 and 2007, the two releases utterly failed to craft compelling pieces and proved embaressing to their respective franchises.
