Is there a better way of guaranteeing an impossible fight for a hero than by pitting them against a younger version of themselves? In Logan, this is exactly what happened, as Wolverine was ambushed and demolished not once, but twice by X-24.

This absolute beast was a clone of Logan, and was Dr. Rice's secret weapon. One of the most harrowing moments in the movie (and in the entire X-Men franchise as a whole), was watching him heartlessly take the life of Professor Xavier, but it was his dismantling of Logan that was the most brutal.

By definition, Logan fighting an exact copy of himself from his prime years was a fight he could never win. By this point in his life, Logan's abilities were failing him, whereas X-24's were as strong as they had ever been. Logan's aggression may not have faded, but his speed and power certainly had.

Later in the film, the two meet again, and the clone savagely kills the original. The only thing that brings X-24 down is Laura shooting him with the adamantium bullet Logan had been saving for himself, but not before it was too late for Marvel's most iconic mutant.
