10 Movie Heroes Who Won By Dumb Luck

At the end of Jurassic Park, the four focal humans are basically screwed - Alan (Sam Neill), Ellie (Laura Dern), Tim (Joseph Mazzello), and Lex (Ariana Richards) are cornered by a pack of raptors while defenseless, and mere seconds away from becoming dino food.

But in one of cinema's all-time great deus ex machina moments, the T-rex inexplicably appears out of nowhere and devours the raptors, giving the heroes time to flee into John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) waiting jeep.

Ultimately the humans were really just caught in the middle of nature - albeit a perverted form of nature - playing out, but the T-rex's sudden arrival gave them the seconds they needed to get the hell out of dodge and make it home safe.

It scarcely makes a lick of sense how nobody heard the T-rex coming or how it physically even made it inside the visitor center, but all this really does is compound the sheer improbable dumb luck involved.

In this story, survival was most certainly victory, even if for humanity as a whole the Jurassic Park experiment can most certainly be called a failure - especially considering what happens later in the series.
