10 Movie Locations That Became Immortalised Thanks To Fans
4. Skopelos, Greece (Mamma Mia!)
Whether you think the Mamma Mia! films are nothing more than nonsensical money-grabbing ABBA-fests or you engulf on the feel-good musicals every time they pop up on ITV2 (your writer subscribes to the former) one thing that isn't up for debate is the film's overwhelming success on both stage and screen.
With that clear fan support being present in box-office numbers alone, it's no surprise to hear that a large portion of Mamma-Maniacs have ventured to 'Kalokairi' - as it's known in the films - to dance through the streets and bellow out the Swedish group's pop hits like there's no tomorrow.
Skopelos - an island off the coast of Greece - is the actual name of this unbelievable location that comes equipped with perfectly white beaches and a clear turquoise ocean.
Fans have hoarded to the 'Mamma Mia Island' for years now and they can even stay in the same place that Pierce Brosnan, Meryll Streep and Colin Firth called home for the shoot, the Skopelos Village Hotel, before gorging on the famous hotspots from the cult-hit sing-alongs.
As you probably guessed, the island has also become a bit of a wedding fantasy for those who adore the features and with the sequel inspiring yet another generation to sing and dance through Greece, it looks as though Skopelos will be an ABBA lover's Shangri-La for the foreseeable future.
