10 Movie Moments That Were Almost WAY Darker
5. Jesse Gets Caught - El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
Jesse Pinkman had gone through a hell of a lot by the time the events of El Camino: A Breaking Bad movie had concluded.
But as the former cooker of meth and associate of Walter White hit the road to start a new life in Alaska, things were finally looking somewhat hopeful for the tortured soul.
Vince Gilligan didn't always plan on giving Jesse this happy ending, though. In fact, the Breaking Bad and El Camino creator told Entertainment Weekly that, while he "didn't get super far down the road", he had once thought of an initial idea that would've seen the battered criminal offer to help a young woman after his escape from some white supremacists in the show's 2013 finale.
From here, Jesse would know that attempting to save this woman whilst he was hiding out on the Canadian border would lead to him getting caught, "but he does it anyway." Then, after struggling to sleep for a week in the wake of that aforementioned escape, the film would end with a scene depicting him finally getting some rest within a jail cell after being caught.
But giving Pinkman such a bittersweet ending would've likely left many a Breaking Bad lover feeling a bit deflated. And after pitching the idea to long-time colleague Peter Gould and the writers, Gilligan soon realised dumping the poor lad back in a cell as the film reached its end probably wasn't the right choice for his movie.
