10 Movie Moments That Were Almost WAY Darker

3. Vanessa Almost Permanently Died - Deadpool 2

In another case of test audiences not being too happy about the fate of a certain big-screen character, Morena Baccarin's Vanessa was originally supposed to stay dead for good as Deadpool 2 reached its end.

However, fans were so ticked off at the fact Vanessa very much bit the dust after being shot early in the movie that David Leich was forced to bring her back to life via some time-travelling shenanigans in the end credits. That's according to the actor herself, with Baccarin telling Syfy that her scenes with Ryan Reynolds also tested so well that they simply had no choice but to "leave the door open for her to possibly come back."

Things definitely would've ended on a bit more of a downer had Wade Wilson's last interaction with his beloved Vanessa been the pair's emotional interaction in the afterlife.

But with the confirmation (via Deadline) of Baccarin very much returning for more Deadpool madness in the upcoming threequel, it looks like 'The Merc with a Mouth's rewriting of history with Cable's time-traveling device and a cream cheese spreader successfully erased what could've been a far darker ending.
