10 Movie Moments We Waited Years For (That Didn't Live Up To Expectations)

Everything in the Harry Potter series was headed towards one almighty showdown from the moment it was revealed in the first book that the Dark Lord, Voldemort had returned. Everything else in the narrative was additional detail, designed to add intrigue and drama, but it was always headed to this one point.

This would be an unprecedented event in the series, if the books were anything to go by, including bloody duels, magical creatures and some of the most intense emotional exchanges of any of the movies.

But Then...

Just as they had done in some of the other Potter films, the film-makers took some serious (and for some, unforgivable) changes to the source material, cutting out things that would presumably have been too expensive like Grawp fighting off the giants, Kreacher's house-elf army and the Acromantula sequences.

All-in-all, there isn't quite the same sense of spectacle that was built in the book and too many key elements are cut or shortened in the interest of the film's run-time. And that definitely leaves the finale wanting.
