5. Star Trek Into Darkness
I originally assumed when 'darkness' was used in the context of this film's title that it might represent something ominous that dominated the plot in a way that you could point at the poster and say "that's what they meant!" It could just be me, but other than the big reveal three-quarters of the way through the film, nothing in Star Trek Into Darkness really served as much of a surprise. Quite possibly, the darkness could be a reference to space or unknown territories that Kirk and his crew have yet to explore. With the exception of the small time in Klingon space (which was fun but only served as introduction for Klingons to satisfy fanboys, not drastically central to plot), every location was quite familiar to the Enterprise, especially since the crew was on Earth for so much of the movie. All-in-all, 'Into Darkness' means virtually nothing. Unlike previous film subtitles for movies in the Star Trek series, such as 'Search for Spock' or 'Wrath of Kahn' that genuinely give away plot points, 'Into Darkness' was a small copout for a title that sounded cool rather than relevant.
