2. Captain America: The First Avenger
'The First Avenger' subtitle doesn't make sense for a few reasons - depending on how you want to look at with regards to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America was not the first Avenger (nor, was he the first in the comic books). For one, you could count by what order the films were released. Why this may not be very important, it still does not ignore that four movies setting up the Avengers film were released before Captain America. In these terms, Captain America certainly is not the first as each (or most) film referenced the Avengers in some form, not making C.A. the first. Two, if we can assume that the events in the MCU are in a rough chronological order, Iron Man was the first hero approached in regards to joining the Avengers. Granted, we have to assume that Captain America did not wake in modern times before 2008 and the four films preceding C.A.: TFA. And we do know that the Avengers were never mentioned during World War II. Iron Man was the first asked for the project and did assist with the team by approaching General Ross in The Incredible Hulk, possibly making Stark the first member. There was the post-credits scene in The First Avenger where Nick Fury tells Captain America about the project. But that turns out to be during The Avengers, and Stark and Banner are being recruited at the same time. The subtitle of 'The First Avenger' seems to serve no purpose other than to attach the big upcoming blockbuster reference to the film for a few extra fans as the film's story involved in no way Steve Rodgers being 'The First Avenger.' I am sure I will get a lot of critics of this one below in the comments, hoping to argue the timing, but Captain America was not the first Avenger and the subtitle contributed nothing to the actual identity of the film.
