10 Movie Plot Holes That Will Destroy Your Childhood

8. Jurassic Park - And Dennis Calls Himself An Expert?

Jurassic Park

In Jurassic Park, Dennis Nedry is the fat moron who accidentally creates the horrifying scenario for everyone who spend much of the movie running around trying to not get eaten. Nedry, a skilled computer expert, isn't so lucky: when he lowers the park's security systems so that he can deliver some stolen samples to a rival corporation, he accidentally finds himself face to face with a dilophosaurus, which you'll know from being a kid as "that dinosaur that spits venom and attacks and kills the fat one".

Yep, the dilophosaurus kills Nedry. But think about it for a second. The dinosaur manages to kill Nedry because he's acting like a clumsy fool, trying to play "fetch" with it (gimme a break) and generally acting like he's never seen a dinosaur in his life. In actuality, Nedry is one of very, very few people on the planet who might be classed as a dinosaur expert, given that he's the one in charge of the island's security system. He designed the thing. Which means he must be familiar with all the dinosaurs and how dangerous they are. Director Steven Spielberg uses this moment to introduce us to the dangers of the dinosaurs, but forgets that Nedry has worked at Jurassic Park for ages.
