10 Movie Plot Holes That Will Destroy Your Childhood
7. Aladdin - "Hey, I Want A Refund On That First Wish!"
Aladdin is a movie about a poor kid living on the streets who lies his way into a hot princess's life and affections and uses the incredible powers of a wise-cracking, quip-obsessed Genie to achieve his goal of sleeping with her or something. That's to say, when Aladdin meets the Genie, he's given three wishes, the first of which he uses to transform himself into a prince. He does this because, for some reason, Princess Jasmine can only marry a prince (at that point in the movie, anyway, it's considered a big plot thing).
Later, once Al's lies have been exposed and evil guy Jafar has been defeated, Aladdin must decide whether to use his final wish to fulfill his promise to free his buddy Genie, or use it to become a prince again. But why does he have to use it to become a prince again? He already wished for it. Wishes are permanent, as far as the movie tells us. That point aside, wasn't the prince wish just a way for Aladdin to gain access into Jasmine's castle, anyway? If he has to wish to be a prince again it means he wasn't one anyway, and so it didn't even matter.
I'm not even going to bring up the fact that Jasmine's father, the Sultan, waits until after Al's freed Genie to throw out the whole "Princesses can only marry princes" rule. Talk about bad timing, Sultan.
