However, as someone vaguely aware of the comics, it became pretty obvious to me as well as most of the Internet that Marion Cotillard would probably end up playing the character, something only fueled by Cotillard's patently unconvincing denials, as well as the set pictures of her walking with purpose into one of Bruce Wayne's stolen Tumbler prototypes. If you were even remotely acquainted with the rumour mill for Nolan's bookending Batman film, you were almost certainly aware of what Cotillard's role would be, and though it would've been crass to ruin it for those not "in the know", it likely still gave the net nerds some smug satisfaction when the reveal finally abounded.
