10 Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Lied

1. Mia & Ash Will Team Up - Evil Dead (2013)

2013's Evil Dead may be a "soft reboot" of the iconic horror franchise, but the implications of its brief post-credits stinger suggested a clear desire on the part of the filmmakers to unite the two iterations of the IP.

After the credits, there's a fleeting cameo from original franchise protagonist Ash (Bruce Campbell), who says, "Groovy," and turns to the camera. The End.

While you could freely interpret this as nothing more than a cute Easter egg, many fans believed it to be directly implying that Ash would be teaming up with the reboot's protagonist, Mia (Jane Levy), in a future film.

This was more recently confirmed by director Fede Álvarez, who stated that he was indeed planning an Ash/Mia team-up movie, but plans were thrown into a tailspin after Sam Raimi proceeded with the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series instead.

After the show's cancellation, Campbell officially retired as Ash, in turn killing the planned crossover. Instead, the series' cinematic future is set to continue with the recently-wrapped second soft reboot, Evil Dead Rise, which won't involve either Ash or Mia.
