9. The Beach

Riddle me this: how do you make a prequel starring the same character that is set twenty years after the original? Well, you can start by morphing into Danny Boyle and returning to the world of The Beach, for a start.

According to Boyle himself, he's working with writer/director/actor Amy Seimetz to make a prequel TV show that will be a bit of a mindf*ck to say the least:

The Beach may come back. [Seimetz] has taken The Beach and made a prequel for television. It’s the same character but it’s set now, so 20 years later – it’s a bit of a headf***. It’s intriguing when you see it. I’ve read the first two scripts. I don’t know if they’ll have the courage to do it at FX, but you never know."

The original gave the world a hint that Leonardo DiCaprio was much, much more than just a pretty face and there's definitely more than enough in that strange story to justify another visit. It's just a shame that DiCaprio is now probably too big to return.
