10 Movie Prequels You Didn't Know Were Coming

2. Ghostbusters High

After decades of flirtation with a third Ghostbusters film in the original series and several false starts, we're finally getting a continuation of Ivan Reitman's original movies after the failure of the reboot. And it seems that might not be the only Ghostbusters project we're going to see.

There have been rumours of an animated show coming too, but even more interestingly is the prequel concept that Dan Akyroyd says is also coming titled Ghostbusters High. The story will follow the original 'Busters (Ray, Peter, and Egon) as teenagers meeting for the first time in 1969 and becoming friends (and presumably supernatural enthusiasts).

Presumably, we're going to see some early encounters with ghosts (and a little creative retconning) that stoke the gangs supernatural investigations. Aykroyd says he's "looking to do that as probably a glorified feature or pilot within the next maybe five years. It would lead to a television project" and that he's handed it over to Jason Reitman for consideration too.

It might not be a priority, but a Ghostbusters prequel is certainly coming.
