In the same vein as the Breaking Bad movie and the long-gestating Deadwood movie that eventually came out this year, we're going to see the expansion of the Sopranos world with a feature film rather than another show.

Set for release in 2020, David Chase’s prequel film The Many Saints of Newark will debut in cinemas too and will follow Alessandro Nivola (currently excelling in 2019 gem The Art Of Self-Defense), playing Dickie Moltisanti, Tony Soprano's mentor who died before the events of the show.

We'll see a story set during the riots of 1960s Newark, New Jersey as Moltisanti helps Tony become who he was in the show. Excitingly, the cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Billy Magnussen, and Corey Stoll and it should be a great extension of Soprano's mythology when it's released on September 25th, 2020.
