10 Movie Punishments Worse Than Death
8. Limbo - Inception
Inception by and large is a fantastic action movie with some mind boggling special effects, but when you really dig deep into the life and death stakes these characters are playing with - it becomes one step away from a horror movie. Particularly when you look at what limbo really is.
It turns out that life and death translates better as never-ending psychological entrapment and death, since by going in as deep as Cobb and his crew do into the dreamworld they risk losing their minds to something else entirely. A plane of raw, endless subconscious that can be shaped however one wishes, time spent in this strange plane of existence can feel like years, whilst being much shorter in reality.
Saito's fate as a man that's live out his life to old age is particularly terrifying since he had no idea he was dreaming. Even when he's rescued, he's then a man that's lived a lifetime stuck back in his younger body, with all of his experiences and previous reality rendered non-existent. Imagine being told when you're old and grey that your whole life was a lie and you'd be living in exile in a fake reality? It's mind breaking stuff.
