10 Movie Recasts That Totally Trolled Fans

1. James Bond (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)

On Her Majesty S Secret Service George Lazenby

Bond (James Bond) is a character so inherently tied to recasting that the announcement of a new 007 is essentially a national event. Still, while everyone is wised up on the trend of recasting the character now, that wasn't the case for Her Majesty's Secret Service.

This movie was the first to replace the leading actor, switching from Sean Connery to George Lazenby. Of course, it was an infamously disappointing transition as Lazenby failed to capture the level of charm or prestige that made 007 iconic. Still, it did at least lead to one incredibly amusing moment.

In the film's opening scene, Bond (in typical fashion) gets into a fight with a slew of adversaries. After delivering what can be best described as a Brock Lesnar-style F5 to one of them, he chucks out the quip, "this never happened to the other fellow", and then stares right down the camera lens.

Now, that is hilarious. It was a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement of the recast and tried to paint the idea that this new Bond would have an entirely different set of problems. It's a shame Lazenby didn't work out, but this blatant troll was almost worth it.
