10 Movie Recasts That Totally Trolled Fans
2. Bruce Banner AKA The Hulk (She-Hulk)
Ah, the MCU; back at it again with the recasting. Of course, while the replacement of James Rhodes was a noticeable change in the Iron Man series, it was way crazier to see one of the founding members of The Avengers back with a completely different look.
Once the original Avengers team-up came along, fans were surprised to see that Mark Ruffalo had taken over the role of Bruce Banner from Edward Norton. What's more, the movie made no effort to explain why Bruce had suddenly become an entirely different person. But that's where She-Hulk stepped in, even if it was a whole decade later.
The Disney+ show, famous for its fourth-wall breaking, took a jab at this in its second episode. In a conversation with Jen, Bruce talked about his past fight with Emil Blonsky (The Abomination) and claimed that he was "a completely different person now... literally", prompting Jen to look right into the camera and deliver a self-aware laugh.
She-Hulk's hilarious mocking of MCU tropes was at its best here. It was a rewarding gag for loyal fans and gave Jennifer Walters the tools to pick apart the Marvel canon. Also, hats off to Tatiana Maslany for her ever impeccable comic timing.
