10 Movie Recasts That Totally Trolled Fans

7. Morton Schmidt (22 Jump Street - Credits Sequence)

MCU Hulk Edward Norton Mark Ruffalo
Columbia Pictures

Okay, yes, this entry is an outlier, as this was an obvious, open, on-the-nose gag rather than an actual actor replacement. But, as a deliberate troll that mocks and parodies the very act of recasting actors, this brief "casting change" deserves to take a spot here.

The second instalment of the Jump Street reboot movies (22 Jump Street) featured a self-aware credits montage where it outlined a tonne of future sequels. You saw bonafide hilarious things like trips to culinary school, ninja academy, space and more. But it was this meta gag that stole the show.

During one of the "sequels", Jonah Hill's Morton Schmidt gets a little facelift, as he's suddenly played by a new actor. Who is this actor? Why, it's Seth Rogen, because of course it is. The joke then plays out as everyone tries to ignore it, but Channing Tatum's Jenko gets confused and references the sudden change.

This moment is a real double hitter, as seeing Rogen cameo in the film is amusing enough, but the shade it throws at movie studios for trying to replace actors without anyone noticing is the extra cherry on top.
