10 Movie References You Didn't Get As A Kid (But Do As An Adult)

6. The Boss' Baby - How The Grinch Stole Christmas

It would seem that movie adaptations of Dr. Seuss can go one of two ways. There are the likes of Mike Myers' The Cat in the Hat, of which the less said about the better, or there is Ron Howard and Jim Carrey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which to this day is one of the more popular festive films about.

While The Cat in the Hat is stuffed with more jokes aimed at the adults watching, arguably the best comes from Whoville when Cindy-Lou Who (Taylor Momsen) enquires about the Grinch's childhood.

The young girl asks the two women who raised the titular character where he came from, to which they give an answer perfectly suited to childhood innocence. All babies come on calm nights, drifting through the skies in floating bassinettes, landing gently on their parents' porches.

The first baby shown landing however is found by their would-be dad, who tells his partner that they look just like her boss. It may have taken some years after first watching the film, but the innocence of this scene is soon killed by this insinuation of an unfaithful partner.
