10 Movie Remakes Much Better Than The Original

6. True Lies (1994)

Adapted from the French action-comedy La totale!, this Tom-Arnold-Schwarzenegger buddy flick ratcheted up the badassery by a considerable amount, leaving the original film buried in the ashes from its numerous explosions and other over-the-top shenanigans. Teaming up James Cameron and Scwarzenegger is rarely a bad thing, and even with a substantially bloated budget for the time ($100 million was more than almost any other action movie was given at the time), the pair made sure to utilize every last dollar to create a surprisingly hilarious spectacle. The real standout in True Lies, though, is Jamie Lee Curtis, who proved she could play a dorky sexpot who's also capable of kicking ass when required.
