The original version of Ocean's 11 has been heavily romanticized due to the unending love most people have for the Rat Pack. And while the mere sight of Frank, Dean, Sammy, Peter, and Joey together is occasionally enough to carry this caper across the finish line, it too often drags its feet in getting there. But Steven Soderbergh came along and trimmed the fat, removing the self-indulgence while managing to keep the snappy spirit of it all. It becomes a slicker heist movie in the process, but there's still ample room for us to listen in on the character's smaller moments, which often prove to be the best moments in the film. Soderbergh's remake truly had it all: A stellar cast, a simple plot, and buckets of energy and enthusiasm. And it's hard to argue that George, Brad, Bernie, Elliott, and Matt don't make for a solid replacement for the original Pack.
