10 Movie Reshoots That Happened For Ridiculous Reasons

7. Test Audiences Hate Dogs Bleeding - A Fish Called Wanda

One of the funniest parts of this 1988 comedy classic is when the nervous criminal Ken (Michael Palin) attempts to murder an elderly woman and kills each of her pet dogs in the process.

No dogs were harmed while filming those scenes, in fact each doggy death is purposefully made to look as comedic and fake as possible. However, test audiences were so repelled by the sight of blood dripping from the corpse of one of the dogs that the scene was reshot without any blood.

It's normal for comedies to reshoot scenes if test audiences didn't find them funny. But refilming a scene because test audiences couldn't bear to see a fake dog bleed fake blood? That's absurd. If the film really wanted to avoid horrifying audiences, they would've refrained from showing us a naked John Cleese.
