10 Movie Roles Actors Wish They'd Never Accepted

7. Ryan Reynolds As Green Lantern

Green Lantern is one of DC's most popular heroes and the comic book giant really missed a trick by failing to translate that on-page success to the silver screen. Had 2011's Green Lantern movie turned out better, it could have generated sequels and spin-offs, as well as making the studio's Justice League movie much better.

Instead, Ryan Reynolds, who played Hal Jordan in the film, would live to regret ever signing up for it. Reynolds did the best with the material he was given and even got nominated for a few awards, but had a really frustrating time with the film overall.

In interviews, he claimed that the studio rushed into production without a good script or any clear vision, simply banking on his presence and the popularity of superhero films to guarantee success. Reynolds also got injured on set and was said to be in great pain after separating his shoulder during one scene.

Some good did at least come of the movie for Reynolds, as he met his second wife, Blake Lively, on the set. Green Lantern also gave Reynolds some good gag material for his future films. In both Deadpool and Deadpool 2, disparaging references are made to the actor's time working on the DC flop.
