10 Movie Roles That Made Great Actors Look Like They'd Gone Insane

Battlefield Earth When an actor reaches a certain level, one that demands we respect and consider them among the greatest to have ever graced their profession, you begin to associate them with only taking on certain types of roles. Case in point: wouldn't it be weird if three-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis suddenly agreed to star in the next Marvel superhero movie? It's not that he wouldn't be able to pull it off, exactly, it's just that we expect... different things from an actor of that calibre, especially one who seems to take his work so seriously. C'mon, he was Abraham Lincoln. It's strange, then, when a respected actor - one renowned for prestigious parts, nonetheless - suddenly takes a role that makes it look like they hired Adam Sandler's agent out of the blue.
