10 Movie Roles Where The Actor Basically Did NOTHING

These actors did a whole lotta nothing in these movies.

Generally speaking, most name actors are hired for their ability to perform dramatically or comedically, and basically bring presence and profile to whatever project they're starring in.

And while the majority of movie roles require actors to speak, emote, move around, and basically get involved, there are a few exceptions to the traditional wisdom.

In the case of these 10 movies, A-list stars, award-winning actors, and top-billed performers alike were tasked with... pretty much doing nothing. They sat around, they pretended to be comatose or injured, and had a much less-involved role than most surely would've expected.

For most of the film, these actors didn't have much to do at all - they sat or laid comfortably and read whatever lines they had - if the even had lines - while collecting what was surely one of the easiest paychecks of their entire career.

In some cases everything worked out for the best, while in others audiences were disappointed by how confined and low-key their performance turned out to be.

For better or worse, these actors did about as little as any name actor ever has in a credited, non-cameo movie role...

10. Eric Stoltz - Anaconda

Eric Stoltz plays the part of anthropology professor Dr. Steven Cale in 1997's cult fave B-movie Anaconda, and though he's very much present for the film's establishing scenes, before the end of the first act he's incapacitated with a wasp sting to the throat.

This leaves Cale confined to the ship's bed for almost the entire remaining hour of the movie, a large portion of which he in fact spends unconscious following a nervous reaction to said wasp sting.

Given that Stoltz was one of the ensemble's better-known cast members at the time - having appeared in Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy, and Jerry Maguire in the years prior - banishing him to bed for the vast majority of his screen time was certainly... a choice.

Cale ultimately plays such a small, insignificant part in the movie that it probably would've made more sense to just have him be one of the giant snake's first victims.
