10 Movie Scenes DELETED Because They Were Too Good
6. Will Ferrell's Cameo - Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion
Cult classic comedy Romy and Michele's High School Reunion originally featured a cameo from Will Ferrell, which was ultimately cleaved away because Ferrell might've understood the assignment a little too well.
In a 2017 Facebook Live interview, director David Mirkin revealed that Ferrell originally played a waiter who calls Romy (Mira Sorvino) on her phone to make her look successful at the reunion, only for the exchange to go embarrassingly wrong for Romy.
Mirkin explained that having this follow on from the soul-crushing moment where Romy is revealed to have lied about inventing the Post-It Note was "so upsetting and humiliating for the audience to watch Romy get completely destroyed. The audience couldn’t recover from it. We had about five minutes of people still sniffling."
And so, deciding that Ferrell's additional dose of humiliation was just too cruel for the movie to accommodate, his entire cameo was cut, and sadly it's never been released to the public.
