10 Movie Scenes That Went Completely Over The Top

4. Death Is A Pre-teen Murderer - Final Destination 2

Final Destination was a perfectly decent little horror movie with a small cast and a premise tailor-made for a standalone X-Files episode. Screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick first pitched it as such, but the studio adopted his idea and franchised it.

The second film, from late former stuntman and Shark Night director David R. Ellis, upped the ante on gore and spectacle and even broke a rule or two along the way, most notably offing a child in an explosion of blood early in the film just to let audiences know it wasn't screwing around.

Future films in the series felt like tired retreads of this one, always trying to outdo the blood and viscera onscreen, but we never forget the first or, in this case, second.

Kenny Hedges is carbon-based. So I suppose a simple top 5 in no order will do: Halloween, Crimes and Misdemeanors, L.A. Confidential, Billy Liar, Blow Out He has his own website - thefilmreal.com - and is always looking for new writers with differing views to broaden the discussion.
