10 Movie Scenes That Went Too Far

6. Misery (1990) €“ Hobbling

In Misery, Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is a writer who crashes his car in the middle of a blizzard, but luckily his biggest fan Annie (played by Oscar winner Kathy Bates) is around to nurse him back to health. Or not as it were, as she is sufficiently sixteen sandwiches short of a picnic. Paul is in the middle of writing the latest instalment of his book series, but Annie does not like how the progress is coming along, and keeps him housebound until he writes what she deems appropriate. As you can imagine, Paul soon gets sick of this, and starts looking for a way to escape. Unfortunately Annie realises this, and in a scene that would give a Black Widow Spider nightmares puts a stop to that behaviour. Annie decides to €˜hobble€™ him, which essentially is placing a block of wood between his ankles, and smashing them in with a sledgehammer. The clip speaks for itself. Try not to gag. http://youtu.be/ueHC7pgfYGU
