8. The Tragic Bus Trip To Disneyland In Pretty Woman
Pretty Woman is the quintessential feel-good romantic comedy, but early versions of the script were far darker, including some unimaginably bleak endings. In one, Julia Roberts’ sex worker friend, Kit, dies of a drug overdose then Richard Gere throws Roberts out of his car, along with the money he paid her for the weekend.
Another ending had Roberts on a bus bound for Disneyland, with Kit anticipating a fun day financed by her week with Gere, as she “stares out emptily ahead.”
The chemistry between the two leads was so strong that a redemptive ending for the 1990 classic was chosen, thankfully!
