10 Movie Scenes Where Actors Weren't Faking

3. Robert Pattinson Is Not The Ideal (Light)House Guest - The Lighthouse

Stories of how much fun and chaos Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe had on the set of Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse (2019) has already entered the annals of filmic urban legend, but how much of it is true?

As a pair of wickies isolated at a New England lighthouse in the 1890s, Pattinson and Dafoe spent the shoot squeezed into small spaces together (to accommodate the film's 1.19:1 aspect ratio), talking in old timey speak, singing sea shanties and burping, farting, drinking and generally getting up to no good while they slid headlong into insanity.

But, reading directly from the Jared Leto playbook, sometimes these things can go too far. In particular, Pattinson has admitted that during the drinking scenes (and when the camera wasn't rolling), he drank himself into a barely legible stupor, often throwing up or wetting himself to boot!

So over-the-top was his method acting, that Dafoe had words with the director, threatening to abandon the set; and few people in the world will be able to say they out-weirded Willem Dafoe. Whether you love or hate him, Pattinson's definitely not that fresh-faced boy from Forks anymore!
