Throwing just about every Spidey villain available to them across the last two decades of big screen web-slinging at the wall and hoping they'd stick, the MCU appeared to spare no expense in the celebration of all things Spider-Man that was No Way Home.

And while it was undoubtedly spectacular to see the likes of Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Jamie Foxx all return in fine live-action form over the course of the epic ensemble Phase 4 entry, fans were left scratching their heads over two of the other high profile big bad returns.

Boasting the vocal talents of both Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans, reprising their roles of Sandman and The Lizard, respectively, both characters spent the vast majority of the flick being made up digitally. And while these effects were still rather impressive, it later came to light that, according to visual effects supervisor Kelly Port when talking about Church in particular, the team "had his voice".

This alludes to the fact that the returning Sony villain wasn't actually physically needed on set, with both Church and Ifans' scenes depicting them being "cured" seemingly using archived footage in the MCU flick's closing moments.
