Perhaps the most important thing for either of the two leads in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise was to be comfortable in the nude, given the series' high abundance of intimate sex scenes.

And though the trilogy as a whole isn't terribly graphic in the skin department, a body double was required for Dakota Johnson, who plays protagonist Anastasia Steele.

Johnson didn't require the use of a body double in order to preserve her modesty, but due to the fact that she has tattoos on her back-side which don't match the more demure nature of her character.

And so, rather than suffer through the awkward impracticality of trying to cover up the tattoo with make-up every day, the decision was made to have a "butt double" for any scene in which her bottom needed to be bare on-screen.

Hilariously, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey said, "I had the pleasure of casting a non-tattooed bottom." So, you'll notice that just about any time Ana's bare butt is visible to the audience, her face isn't - and that's no coincidence.
