10 Movie Science Experiments That Went Horribly Wrong

7. Splice (2009)

Splice Is this the one with the Adrien Brody/human-creature sex scene? Yes, yes it is and for that reason alone it appears on the list. A further example of when romance and chemistry do not mix. When your boss forbids you from creating a human hybrid and your scientist girlfriend has mother issues, the odds are not in your favour to go against nature and create a genetic engineered baby. And yet you decide to do it all the same. Dred, the female human half breed, is born. Besides having to hide their milestone in genetic engineering history in Elsa€™s late mother€™s barn, things aren€™t going to well with their new family member. Being not fully human and all means that Dred ages quicker than the rest of us and so it€™s not long before she is a confused teenager who is entranced by Clive and wants to kill her mother figure (a good old spin on Freud€™s theory). From then on out their experiment lacks any positives with one twist seeing Dred turn male.
