10 Movie Secrets Everyone Knows Except You

5. Hades Knows How Long The Movie Is - Hercules (1997)

Without giving any credit to James Woods as a human being, his vocal performance as the villainous Hades in 1997's Hercules is an undeniable masterclass.

And one of the character's finest, weirdest moments is one that might've actually slipped by you.

When Hercules (Tate Donovan) appears to kill the Hydra by cutting one of its heads off, Hades reminds his nervous cronies, "Guys, guys, relax. It's only half-time."

At this point the Hydra sprouts three more heads and the battle continues, but it's interesting to note one thing about Hades' comment - the time code.

Hades says this remark at 46 minutes and 32 seconds into the movie, and given that Hercules' runtime is 93 minutes and 12 seconds, that places it at almost exactly 50% of the way through the film.

Needless to say, considering the ever-fluid nature of animated filmmaking, the exactitude on display here - even counting the end credits as part of the whole - is pretty damn impressive.
