10 Movie Sequels Fans Still Demand

8. District 9

District 9 Alien Interview
TriStar Pictures

Although it's easy to forget now, the impact District 9 made back in 2009 was astronomical. Coming out of nowhere from a first-time director, the sci-fi film wasn't only a commercial success but an awards darling as well, with a sequel being talked about immediately in spite of how neatly (and tragically) the original wrapped up.

Unfortunately, while there was talk, Neill Blomkamp's track record since hasn't exactly been stellar. With every subsequent movie dropping in quality, the director has had trouble getting any project off the ground over the past couple of years, with his Alien sequel being canned and him moving on to helm a rebooted Robocop. Consequently, even if it was made, there's a good chance it would be probably be a bit naff.

District 10 (or whatever it would have been called) is almost certainly no longer happening, then, even if, like Team America, the current political climate would make a sequel a no-brainer.
