7. Step Brothers 2

Considering just how many great movies never got sequels, a follow-up to 2008's Step Brothers has no reason to be one of the most sought after. It is though, again partly because the original filmmakers keep teasing it, with a script being written, then thrown out, then it being back on the cards again, with fans all strung along in the process.

However, there have been a few issues that have extinguished any hope of the project ever getting off the ground. Director Adam McKay has transitioned away from frat comedies towards movies that get nominated for Academy Awards, only getting more and more unwilling to return to his past properties as time goes on.

Likewise, other long-awaited sequels to classic 2000s comedies have notoriously underperformed, including the likes of Zoolander 2 and Anchorman 2, meaning there's no studio desperate to dig any more up.
