10 Movie Sequels JUST Announced

There's a phrase in British entertainment that is to 'break America'. No matter how popular a TV show is in the UK, it is incredibly difficult for that success to carry over across the pond to the US. In some ways that's the pinnacle of what could be achieved.

That's not to say that it's impossible, as Downton Abbey has proven time and time again. It's a show that has become insanely popular the world over, so much so that both ventures onto the big screen have audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes well into the 90s.

Thanks to that popularity, ten years after the series ended, and three years after the second movie, Downton Abbey: A New Era, 2025 is set to see the completion of its trilogy. The majority of the main cast will return, as well as Julian Fellowes who wrote the previous films, and Simon Curtis, who directed A New Era.

Though at this stage details on the story are scarce, the involvement of Paul Giamatti, reprising his single-appearance role as Harold Levinson, may suggest a journey across the Atlantic may be on the cards. The previous movie took to the South of France, so why not a little further afield this time?
