10 Movie Sequels JUST Announced

There is undeniably a lack of originality within the movie industry right now, with genuinely fresh ideas few and far between. If a new release isn't a sequel, a prequel, a spin-off, or based on a comic book, then chances are it is being adapted from a novel.

That's not necessarily a bad thing - even Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer was based on a book, and just look how well that was received. If there's a good story there, then why not bring it to the big screen?

This was the case with Casey McQuiston's Red, White, and Royal Blue, a young adult novel whose rights were acquired by Amazon Studios. The film, which told the story of the US President's son falling in love with a British prince, did very well on the streaming platform. Reportedly it became one of Amazon's top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time, and the company even accredited a surge in subscriptions to its release.

Even though there has been no sequel on the page, at least not yet, Red, White, and Royal Blue's huge success means that there will be a second story told on screen, with leads Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine set to reprise their roles as Alex and Prince Henry respectively.
