10 Movie Sequels JUST Announced

3. Road House 2

The movie industry can often be something of a contradiction. Often there is animosity surrounding the perceived lack of creativity within Hollywood, and the seemingly endless cycle of reboots, and yet something like 2024's Road House is released on Amazon Prime and it breaks viewing records.

The reimagined telling of the 1989 action classic, with Jake Gyllenhaal in the leading role of Dalton rather than Patrick Swayze, became Amazon's most watched original film ever, drawing in over 50 million views through its first two weekends. Needless to say, Road House was a pretty big deal when it dropped in March 2024.

Aside from the popularity of the original, there was also the star power of Gyllenhaal's name and the fact that UFC legend Conor McGregor made his acting debut near the top of the bill. All this added up to the announcement of a sequel.

As always at this point, details are incredibly scarce outside of the fact that Gyllenhaal's Dalton will return. No word as of yet on McGregor, and though there was a straight-to-DVD sequel to the original released in 2006, it's unlikely that anything will be pulled from something boasting a putrid 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.
