10 Movie Sequels That Took 30 Years To Make

3. Bill & Ted Face The Music

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have been trying to get a third Bill & Ted movie off the ground for years, to the extent that it ultimately just seemed like Hollywood wasn't willing to roll the dice on it, after 1991's Bogus Journey disappointed at the box office.

But with Reeves' recent career resurgence, interest in the project reignited, and regardless of what happens next, a third Bill & Ted movie has been filmed, is in the can, and will 100% be released this summer.

Reeves and Winter are back, of course, alongside William Sadler's Death, with a new ensemble cast including Samara Weaving, Anthony Carrigan, Jillian Bell, Jayma Mays, Kristen Schaal, and the late George Carlin's daughter Kelly Carlin.

The real kicker? Original screenwriters Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon penned the script, and it's being helmed by the brilliant Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest).

Was It Worth The Wait?

We'll know for sure on August 21, and though this could very well be a case of a movie that simply spent far too long cooking in the oven, the little we've seen so far looks very encouraging indeed.

If Face the Music can find a way to update the formula of the first two movies while retaining their optimistic, air-headed spirit, then it could be a rare belated comedy sequel that really works.
