10 Movie Sequels That Totally Insulted Great Characters

2. Rose Tico - Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise Of Skywalker

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi introduced Rose Tico as a fun and flighty new hero, who paired up with Finn for an adventure in the casino planet Canto Bight. Though Canto Bight fails to hold up to the rest of the film, Rose adds a nice spark to the new cast.

However, the character, played by Kelly Marie Tran, received severe backlash from fans who didn't like Last Jedi. Some even turned toxic, bullying Tran off social media.

It seems particularly unfair then that Disney caved to these fans' hatred of the character by cutting her out of most of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker. She contributes next to nothing to the plot, actively turning down the call to adventure early in the film, and her screentime is only about 76 seconds.

Both Rose and Tran deserved better from The Rise of Skywalker. She would have been a welcome companion on the Resistance's journey, and it's insulting that she had nothing to do in the franchise capper.
