In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling writes: "'Did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire, Harry?' Dumbledore asked calmly."

The key word there is "calmly." It embodies who Dumbledore is to Harry: a mentor figure to whom he can always turn for help and guidance, and someone who is rarely shaken.

However, in the film adaptation of Goblet of Fire, actor Michael Gambon takes a different route. Rather than "asking calmly," he runs on screen, shouting at Harry and grabbing him.

Gambon was the second actor to take on the role of Albus Dumbledore, the first being Richard Harris, who sadly passed away after filming Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Harris leaned into the level-headed aspect of the character more than Gambon.

While Gambon's performance has its virtues, the Dumbledore he gives us lacks the wisdom of the Dumbledore he first met, especially in Goblet of Fire. It's not fair to the character to cast away his famous patience.
