10 Movie Sequels That Were 30 Years In The Making

10. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Mad Max Fury Road
Warner Bros.

Time Between: 29 years, 309 days

Coming in at a snipe under 30 years after Beyond Thunderdome, Fury Road was the result of a seriously long gestation period that began officially way back in 1998, three years after George Miller reacquired the rights to his baby. Almost twenty years of active development in various forms is quite something.

Was It Worth The Wait?

Definitely. Miller's eye for aesthetic and somehow pulling beauty out of the most barren environments has never been as obvious as in Fury Road. And the decision to make the story more focused on Furiosa rather than Max was an inspired move - particularly as it meant a more enigmatic, largely silent performance by Tom Hardy.

It's a shame we won't get a sequel now, but maybe in 30 years we might?
