10 Movie Sequels That Were Sent Out To Die

Behind-the scenes drama and unexpected change of directions don't always have to condemn a sequel to a disastrous fate. Hell, the 007 series itself has already proven that unforeseen changes in direction can still pave the way for a decent enough outing with last year's No Time to Die.

Yet, the same sadly cannot be said for Daniel Craig's second appearance as the iconic agent with a license to kill. Plagued by the fact the studio simply couldn't find a writer to come aboard and finish the script for the follow-up to the widely celebrated Casino Royale, thanks to the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike, a "bare bones" script was polished off by the likes of the leading man himself - though Craig has openly admitted, "a writer I am not."

Trying their best to keep this titanic ship from sinking, the duo of Craig and director Marc Forster were forced to reframe Quantum as more of a sequel than originally planned. But the film's eventually rather lukewarm critical reception must've felt like a positive win for a feature that everyone involved clearly just wanted to get out of the way before moving onto their next adventure.
