Whilst on the subject of film debuts, let's talk about the movie that introduced the world to Anya Taylor-Joy.

The Queen's Gambit star first rose to prominence playing the lead role in Robert Eggers' The Witch, or "The VVitch", for the smart alecs out there. Taylor-Joy's Thomasin is a young woman in colonial America, whose family is haunted by a supposed spellcaster in this gripping folk horror.

The film did well, made a star out of its lead, and set Eggers on a path that would lead him to movies like The Lighthouse, The Northman, and the upcoming Nosferatu remake. And yet, he has no wish to return to his first film.

Eggers was extremely blunt when giving an interview about a possible Witch sequel to Entertainment Weekly, stating, "if I wanted to know what happens after the last shot of the film, I would have made a longer movie."

That sounds pretty definitive and, considering how busy the man has been since this movie came out in 2015, it looks like he's going to stick to his word. Fans of Black Phillip will have to get their goat fix elsewhere.
